Leptin
Leptin is a hormone known as the “satiety hormone”. It is made by fat cells and serves of help regulate the amount of fat stored in the body. When isolated in 1994, its discovery had a profound influence in the direction of obesity research in the years to follow. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the leptin discovery the Leptin sculpture was commissioned and presented to its discoverer, Professor Jeffry Friedman on Jun7, 2014. The sculpture is made of polish stainless steel and stands 16 inches above a black granite base.
