Thermolysin
Thermolysin is a protease isolated from hot springs. Owing to its unusual thermal stability it has been the subject of numerous academic investigations. A brass and steel model of the enzyme showing how a potent inhibitor binds andhow the stabilizing metal ions are bound to the protein, was presented to Professor Paul Bartlett on his academic retirement in June, 2003. The sculpture stands 18 inches high and is mounted on a solid cherry base.
